Oxford Federal Credit Union is seeking a highly motivated, outgoing and personable professional with exceptional sales and real estate lending skills to join our Mexico team for the position of *Real Estate Lender. *This is an exciting opportunity to work for a financially strong, community oriented, member owned financial cooperative providing financial services to members in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset and York county, Maine. The successful candidate will actively promote and sell credit union products and services to new and existing members, ensuring retention and growth in residential real estate lending.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Meet with members to assess their financial needs in regards to residential real estate loans, primarily. Originate first mortgages, working closely with CUSO Home Lending, writing loans to secondary market standards. Originate, process and decision other loan applications, (including home equities and land loans) according to federal, state and local regulations and credit union policy guidelines. Identify and refer other mortgage requests to CUSO Home Lending (MESHA, FHA, etc.). Establish terms and conditions of a loan and review the information with the member. Assemble and organize documents in mortgage files to help ensure a timely turnaround and positive mortgage experience for the member.

Identify cross-sell opportunities and promote and sell all credit union products and services to help achieve or exceed credit union goals in the areas of sales, retention, revenue growth, member contact and member satisfaction.

Establish, promote, and maintain strong professional relationships with real estate agencies, appraisers, vendors, realtor associations, title companies, strengthening the communities in which we live and work.

Have a working knowledge of secondary market guidelines and keep informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting real estate lending, ensuring quality service and adherence to regulatory requirements including but not limited to Fair Credit Reporting, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Flood Insurance and OFAC.

Requirements

A two-year college degree, or any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills.

Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

This position requires registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry on an annual basis and maintaining updates as needed.

  • Experience with first and second mortgage lending.
  • Working knowledge of residential mortgage lending policies, practices and applicable Federal, State, local and credit union regulations.
  • Strong sales skills to cross-sell credit union products and services, with an outgoing personality and/or persuasive manner.
  • Committed to providing superior member service, and possess good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, various online applications including DP systems relative to financial institutions.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency and accuracy when working with details, numbers and names.
