*OVERVIEW: *The Design Engineer provides strong leadership within our design team toward the development of new products and continuous improvement objectives. Our engineers enjoy great autonomy in optimizing efficient and creative innovations as we continue to lead the industry by building the best home heating stoves on the planet. The role’s primary objective is to direct planning & organization of product design/fabrication, build prototypes, perform testing, and guide the completion of assigned engineering projects.

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: *

• Design and development of next generation wood stoves, gas stoves, and outdoor appliances capable of meeting government safety and emission standards

• Contribute to continually improving our established product lines

• Plan/Communicate with management team to select and prioritize projects

• Create and execute appropriate project timelines and direct resources to achieve successful project completions; Keep the department manager up to date on status of assigned projects; prepare interim and completion reports

• Hands on fabrication of functional prototypes to be tested

• Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases

• Create and maintain 3D solid models and drawings of cast iron, sheet metal, and machined components

• Prepare and complete 3D and 2D documentation of products designed and/or improved

• Assist in deployment of project to production; create Bill of Materials and assembly instructions to maximize efficiency in production

• Stay up to date with regulatory changes/industry news – communicate findings to the company

• Generate owners’ manuals, technical bulletins, and any required supporting documentation related to products

• Participate in the ECO process

• Conduct other duties as assigned
