The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Creare Safety Officer with developing, implementing, and maintaining safety protocols and facility infrastructure. This is an exciting role that includes roughly half-time performing Safety Coordinator duties and half time performing basic engineering and laboratory research activities alongside other technical staff. Responsibility and technical depth will grow with the individual. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of engineering lab environments and regulatory compliance, good communication skills, and a passion for fostering a culture of safety.

Key Safety Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Assist with researching, developing, and implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with developing and providing training and guidance to employees on safety policies.
  • Assist the Creare Hazardous Materials Coordinator with proper maintenance, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials in alignment with regulations.
  • Maintain safety infrastructure, such as first aid supplies, laboratory fume hoods, chemistry lab, and personal protective equipment supplies.
  • Help maintain up-to-date documentation of safety protocols, incident reports, and compliance audits.
  • Assist employees with safety-related concerns and questions.
  • Assist with emergency response coordination.

Key Laboratory Research Responsibilities can vary widely; examples may include:

  • Assist teams of engineers and technicians with testing, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Assemble, program, and operate prototype laboratory hardware.
  • Operate specialty equipment (training provided), such as a scanning electron microscope (SEM), lasers, and/or custom prototype devices.
  • Laboratory chemical processes, such as parts etching (training provided).

U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents only. Creare is an Equal Opportunity Employer (Minorities/Women/Disabled/Veterans).

Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience, or Associate’s degree with 2-5+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with basic chemistry and general safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented and adept at problem-solving in dynamic environments.
