Community Concepts is seeking a *First Responder Wellness Coordinator *to serve as a single point of contact for individuals and families in the first responder/public safety community that were impacted by the mass violence event.  The Maine Resiliency Center was developed in the aftermath of the mass shooting event in Lewiston, ME, on October 25th, 2023. The Center provides resources and support to those impacted by this mass violence event.  This position is a temporary position, up to 23 months, with the possibility of an extension.

Essential Duties:

  • Identify and coordinate support services, trainings, and workshops to enhance first responder wellness.
  • Serve as a liaison to first responders/public safety departments.
  • Provide direct support to impacted individuals and families, and facilitate access to community resources.
  • Assist in daily center activities/operations in include providing group and one on one support for individuals and families (including children), receiving new guests and support in completing needs assessments, and  be in attendance at center events on sire and in the community.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field with at least three years of related experience preferred. 
  • Experience in public safety preferred. 

*Other Requirements:  *Experience working with populations who have experienced trauma and understanding of trauma-informed approach. Significant understanding of the culture and needs of the first responders/public safety community. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to show patience and empathy; displaying professionalism and understanding its impact on customer service; proficient computer skills for data accuracy.  

Pre-employment physical, SBI, DMV, Maine Sex Offender Registry, DHHS, fraud, and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment; valid and current driver’s license, and travel within the service area is required.
